NCWS Seeks Upward Review Of Women Representation From 2% To 30% In Kebbi

….Appeals for operational vehicle, state secretariat

Kebbi state branch President of National council of women societies, NCWS, Hajia Hadiza Muhammed Kola, has appealed to Kebbi state government to fill the gap of 28% of women representations in governance and politics to attain the 30% agreed upon.

Kola made the appeal in Birnin Kebbi on Saturday in an interview with our correspondent, she said the state under governor Idris have appointed some women in key positions but the gap is still there for women “we commend him for appointing women as commissioners, permanent secretaries as well as heads of agencies in the state,we must laud him at the same time appeal for more”.

Describing women as bedrock of nation’s stability and economic sustainability she noted that women are required to push the growth of local economy which is critical to family support in the upkeep of the family, knowing the indispensable agility of women, the wife of the president ,Senator Remi Tinubu and her coordinator, of renewed hope agenda, the wife of Kebbi governor, Hajia Zainab Nasare took it upon themselves to empower grassroots petty traders in order to give the local economy the needed boost.

The state women chief urged the president wife Remi Tinubu to evolve a mechanism to revisit those petty traders who received the empowerments to assess level of progress or diversion of the start up funds for selfish use as it will go along way in encouraging others to be serious since they know they will be required to give details of their businesses.

Back in Kebbi, Kola appeal to governor Idris to procure operational vehicle and an office secretariat to enable them discharge their duties “we get embrassed each time we go a for National function to see other state chapters with vehicles but we can only look on ” we know the first lady and her husband are doing good for the council but we are appealing for a bus and state secretariat like any other state”.

She commended Zainab Nasare for her various social assistance to women, children and orphans in the state since came on board she urged her to continue on the pace of humanitarian services till all poor women and orphans stand on their feet in Kebbi state.
