As Nasarawa State citizens goes out to exercise their franchise by electing another new set of council chairmen and councilors to fill in 13 local government areas of the state, the stakeholders within the ruling All Progressives Congress APC has described the process as peaceful.
Speaking after casting his vote, the Nasarawa state chairman of the ruling All Progressive Congress APC Alhaji Aliyu Bello, said the election was peaceful across the 13 local government areas of the state.
He explained that from what he has gathered the ruling party was going to be victorious in all positions contested.
According to Aliyu Bello, “It is a shame that the so-called opposition party are not participating in this election,” he said.
Also in an interviewed during the exercise Sen. Umaru Tanko Al-Almakura also described the exercise as peaceful considering the way and manner they electorates were conducting themselves during exercise.
According to the former senator, “The election is a popular election. It’s free and fair and people are conducting themselves in the must expected manner,” he said.
Also speaking during the exercise chairmanship candidate Honourable Shagir Ibrahim also described exercise as peaceful one as he further commended the electorates for conducted themselves peaceful during exercise.
Out of 9 political parties that participated in the exercise, PDP and NNPP were excluded.
The two political parties were alleging that the ruling party had already allocated the seat to their loyalist.
DAILY INDEPENDENT reports that the election was characterised by low turnout as most of the poll units visited were empty with no voters lin sight except for electoral officers.
