The Minister of State for Education, Dr. Suwaiba Ahmed, has vowed to work diligently to implement President Bola Tinubu’s reform agenda in the education sector.
Ahmed made the commitment on Saturday during a thank-you visit to Governor Umar Namadi at the Government House in Dutse, the Jigawa State capital.
Accompanied by a large delegation of supporters and well-wishers from her home local government of Babura and the Ringim Emirate, the minister thanked the governor for facilitating her appointment.
She also assured him of her commitment to fulfilling her mandate.
Speaking during the visit, she said, “I am grateful for the privilege to serve the people of Jigawa State and the country at large. I will work tirelessly to fulfill President Tinubu’s vision for the education sector.”
Ahmed described herself as “an escort” on the trip, acknowledging the elders, leaders, and stakeholders present to thank the governor for his support.
In his remarks, the governor charged Ahmed to align with the president’s reform agenda, urging her to focus on raising the quality of education in Jigawa State and beyond.
The governor expressed confidence in her abilities, citing her remarkable track record as the former head of the State College of Legal and Islamic Studies in Ringim.
He described her appointment as well-deserved and based on merit.
“Dr. Ahmed’s performance in her previous roles demonstrates her capacity to deliver. Your commitment to education reform will have a lasting positive impact on Jigawa State and Nigeria as a whole,” Namadi said.
The governor also addressed concerns surrounding her appointment, given that the Minister of Defence, Mohammed Abubakar, is from the same local government.
Namadi clarified that the decision was merit-based, saying that Ahmed was the best candidate for the position.y
