Bomadi Council Chairman, Andaye, Kicks Off Three-week Skill Acquisition Programme For Indigent Youths

UGHELLI – The executive chairman of Bomadi Council Area of Delta State Hon Dagidi Andaye has flag-off an extensive 3-week skill acquisition and empowerment programme for 100 indigent youths in a determination to create a means of livelihood and lift them out of poverty.

The Council Chairman, Andaye speaking at the opening ceremony in the Council’s NULGE hall Bomadi Secretariat advised participants who were shortlisted to choose a skill he or she have passion . Andaye asserted that at the end of the programme the participants was expected to have a new beginning of open chapter, self reliance and a contributor to societal development.

According to him “I am reminded of the role that skill acquisition and empowerment play in shaping the future of our communities. It is our collective responsibility to ensure that our people are well equipped with the necessary skills, knowledge, and resources to thrive in an increasingly competitive world”.

He stated that in line with the M.O.R.E Agenda of his Excellency Governor of Delta State Rt.Hon Sheriff Oborevwori his administration recognizes the importance of investing in human resources to drive sustainable development, hence he keyed in to organized the programme for youths in the Council area.

Andaye highlighted that the programme was designed to providing, catering and pastries, shoe making, weave making, Make-up and Gele, Chemical production, Fruit mixology and Point of Sale (POS) explaining that the objective of the programme are multifaceted.

He further posited that through the empowerment and skill acquisition programme, beneficiaries would make themselves marketable, enhance their employability and self-sufficiency.

While he enjoined participants who were drawn from the 10 wards in the Council area to see it as a little beginning, stressed that commitment and determination they would grow to be employers of labour and contribute to the prosperity of the Bomadi Council area as a whole.

Earlier, the Managing Director of Sultry Global, the Bomadi Council strategic partner for the skill acquisition and empowerment programme, Deaconess Ebinepre Samson stated that the programme was designed for everything participants choose and learn a trade of choice.

She tasked the participants to take the lectures and practical sessions seriously . Samsom held that the efforts made by the Bomadi Council Chairman Andaye should be appreciated and told the youths to learn to grow from little beginning to a large business empire.

The Managing Director of Sultry Global, Samson further assured them that at the end of the programme starter park will be given to every participants while disabused the minds of the participants not to sell their talent and go back begging for a living.
