ABUJA – The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Barr. Nyesom Wike, has expressed satisfaction with the quality of ongoing rural road projects across the territory, pledging that his administration will ensure timely completion to enhance connectivity, boost agriculture, and improve the lives of rural dwellers.

During an inspection tour of several sites, including Kwaita, Ushafa in Bwari, and Yangogi sukuku on Wednesday in Abuja, the Minister lauded the contractors for their commitment, despite challenges posed by heavy rainfall earlier in the year.

“What amazes me is the length of the roads and the positive impact they will have on these communities,” Wike said. “For instance, the Kwaita road is incredibly long, and the quality of work so far is commendable. Seeing these projects come alive is a testament to our resolve to make a difference.”

The Minister assured residents that funding would not be a hindrance to project completion. “When you see contractors who are committed, the government must also fulfill its obligations by ensuring adequate funding. This partnership is key to completing these roads and making the people happy.”

Wike also highlighted the agricultural potential of the rural areas, noting the vast expanse of farmland along the routes. “If the government capitalizes on these opportunities, we will be on the path to achieving food security,” he added.

On expectations for December commissioning, Wike remained optimistic. “The contractors have assured us they will complete the roads by December. With the favorable weather we’re experiencing, I believe they will deliver on their promise,” he said.

For residents yet to benefit from similar projects, the Minister emphasized the continuity of government efforts. “We may not solve all problems, but our focus is on making a visible impact across the FCT, including satellite towns and urban areas,” Wike assured.

The Minister’s tour drew an enthusiastic crowd, with many community members expressing gratitude for the unprecedented development. “Never did we think something like this would happen in our lifetime,” a resident said, reflecting the transformative impact of the projects.

The FCT administration’s commitment to infrastructure development, rural empowerment, and food security signals a renewed drive to ensure inclusive growth and sustainable development for all.
