VIDEO: Gunshots as EFCC operatives attempt to arrest Yahaya Bello in Abuja

Gunshots echoed through the air as operatives from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) attempted to arrest former Governor Yahaya Bello at the Kogi State Governor’s lodge in Asokoro, Abuja.

In a viral video, sounds of gunshots were shot sporadically in an attempt to arrest the ex-Kogi governor, Yahaya Bello, on Wednesday night.

The raid was met with resistance from security personnel at the lodge, leading to a heated altercation between the EFCC agents and the governor’s guards.

According to reports,  the current Kogi Governor, Ahmed Ododo, intervened and managed to escort his predecessor from the scene.

Earlleir, Tribune Online reported that the EFCC announced that Bello remains at large and is sought for alleged money laundering involving approximately N80.2 billion.

In contrast, Bello’s media office claimed that he, along with Governor Ododo, had visited the EFCC office but was not subjected to interrogation.

The EFCC had previously declared Bello wanted for financial crimes totaling N80.2 billion. Despite several court adjournments, Bello has yet to appear before the trial judge.
