UNIBEN Appoints Constitutional Law Professor Omoregie New Vice-Chancellor

October 25, (THEWILL) – The University of Benin has appointed a professor of Constitutional Law and Governance, Edoba Omoregie SAN, as the 11th Vice-Chancellor of the university.

Omoregie succeeds Professor Lillian Salami, whose tenure ends on December 1.

Chairman of the Governing Council of the university, Prof. Shaibu Umaru, who announced the appointment in Benin City on Friday, said Omoregie emerged from a pool of 27 applicants who vied for the esteemed position.

Born on April 5, 1969, Prof. Omoregie is a native of Benin and attended the University of Benin for his first, second and third degrees.

He was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1992 and conferred with Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) in 2021.
