ABUJA: Women in Mining Africa (WiM-Africa) proudly announces the appointment of Distinguished Senator Uche Lilian Ekwunife (IYOM) to its Board of Directors, effective January 1, 2025. With over 25 years of impactful leadership and philanthropic dedication in Nigeria, Senator Ekwunife brings extensive expertise to her new role, advancing WiM-Africa’s mission to empower women and promote sustainable practices in Africa’s mining sector.
WiM-Africa, a leading organization advocating for gender equality and sustainable mining practices, focuses on empowering women artisanal miners, removing children from hazardous mines, and enhancing the well-being of mining host communities. Through its partnerships across the continent, the organization strives to reshape the mining industry with a commitment to ethical and inclusive practices.
As a board member, Senator Ekwunife will play a key role in driving WiM-Africa’s strategic initiatives, influencing policies, and advocating for change to benefit women and vulnerable communities in mining.
