PORT HARCOURT – The group Managing Director of Solewant Group, Sir Solomon Ewanehi, has stated that the goal of President Ahmed Bola Tinubu in increasing crude oil production in Nigeria cannot be achieved in the absence of sound health among oil and gas practitioners.
Ewanehi, who is also the Chief Executive Officer the indigenous engineering company, emphasised that an active health remains a critical factor in engendering professionalism and excellent service delivery.
Sir Ewanehi, made the disclosure during the opening ceremony of a golf competition his company organised to encourage improved health as part of activities of it 8th energy summit scheduled to hold in Rivers State.
Speaking shortly after declaring the tournament open, Ewanehi said: Wellbeing will give you the right thinking, if you are not sound you cannot think professionally, so we need to always be very sound health-wise in order to be able to sit and carry out our activities.
“Often times, people just work and forget that they need to be very active and being active is very critical to delivering and for us as a manufacturing company, we see it as one of the key success factors for us to always exercise, ensuring that we need to manage our time with which we deliver our products and services to satisfy our clients.
“The President has given a matching order to Petroleum Technology Association of Nigeria (PETAN) members and you know we are a very strong member of PETAN, that we should increase the crude oil production volume.
“So if we do not have the team that is delivering that for us to be productive, we won’t be able to meet up with that, so thisis part of the ways we ensure that we are meet up the with what the presidential mandate,” Ewanehi added.
Speaking earlier, the High Commissioner of Trinidad and Tobego to Nigeria, Charlton De Landro, who also graced the event, thanked the Solewant Group for putting the tournament together.
“Thank you Solewant for inviting me, thank you for supporting golf in Nigeria and particularly in Port Harcourt here.
“Golf is a sport that needs to be encouraged across the country, it keeps you fit and healthy.”
On his part, a sports consultant for Solewant, Tunde Jackson, said the tournament was timely, adding that golf remains a veritable tool that can be used to tackle youths restiveness in the country.
“One of the ways we can tackle youths’ restiveness in the Niger Delta is to build golf courses and that would positively engage the youths and take them off the streets.
“If you come here you will see a lot of cardists (those who carry the golf bags) they are youths, this is a way to take them off negative activities and make them have a feel of this elitist game.
“So we say a big thank you to Solewant and then we look forward to a bigger tournament from them.”
