LAFIA – Abdullahi Sule, the governor of Nasarawa State on Thursday launched rice harvest in the state as part of his administration’s commitment towards tackling food security in the state.
Speaking while flag-off of the rice harvest, Governor Sule highlighted the critical role of agriculture in revitalising the economy.
According to him,” Agriculture remains the key sector with enormous potential to transform our economy,” he said.
He also reaffirmed his government’s commitment to investing more resources in agriculture to create job opportunities for young people and stabilise food prices.
In a sidelines interviewed the residents of Nasarawa State have calling on the federal and state governments to implement efficient and sustainable policies on food production and rural development, to strengthen the economy and ensure food security.
Community leaders who also praised the initiative, acknowledging its positive impact on local livelihoods.
Mr. Justin Shaku, a community leader, noted that the rice project has significantly improved the economic standard of our community.
Youth leader Mallam Yusuf Husseini echoed this sentiment, emphasizing, the people are benefiting greatly from this project, but they urged the government to focus more on rural infrastructure, especially road development, to further improve the quality of life for those at the grassroots.”
They all leaders stressed that improving rural infrastructure would add value to local communities and bolster the state’s efforts toward food security and economic growth.
