LAGOS – Rotary Club of Ojodu has successfully concluded its two-day Rotary Family Health Day (RFHD) 2024, after providing free medical outreach to over 380 people.
The two day comprehensive free medical outreach held at the open space by the Primary Health Care Centre, Ojodu Local Council Development Area (LCDA) ended over the weekend, where more than 380 indigenes of Ogba and Ojodu communities were catered for.
The medical services provided during the outreach included: Prostate Cancer (PSA) Screening, Eye Check and Eye Care Services, Family Planning and Counseling, Malaria Parasite Screening and Treatment, HIV Counseling and Testing, Hypertension Screening and Management, Hepatitis B and C Screening and Syphilis Testing and Treatment.
The event also featured free distribution of sanitary pads to young girls, mosquito-treated nets, and diapers for nursing mothers.
The programme was coordinated by Rotarian Johnpaul Chigbo, the RFHD Chairman and a healthcare practitioner who also serves as the club’s Youth Generation Chair.
Chigbo expressed enthusiasm for the overwhelming turnout and reiterated the club’s commitment to continuing such impactful initiatives.
He stressed the importance of providing hope and healthcare access to underserved members of the community, promising another outreach in the coming months.
The President of the Rotary Club of Ojodu, Rotarian Ikpunuehkai Osi-Evans, in his address expressed appreciation to the RFHD committee members, the club’s board and members, and the numerous donors whose support made the event a success.
He also thanked the Ogba and Ojodu communities for their participation, noting that their engagement validated the essence of the outreach.
The club was founded in 2002 and chartered on March 8, 2005 with just 26 members. Its members as of today stands at over 65 and it has a legacy of executing sterling projects that directly benefit the Ojodu community.
