Nigeria commiserates with Spain, Serbia over flash floods, railway station incidents

The Nigerian government has expressed its condolences to the governments and people of Spain and Serbia following the devastating flash floods and a tragic railway station incident in both countries.

Tribune Online previously reported that flash floods struck eastern Spain on Tuesday, October 29, resulting in the loss of 158 lives, with many more individuals still reported missing.

In a show of solidarity with the Spanish people during this challenging time, Nigeria, through a statement by the spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Amb. Eche Abu-Obe, extended its sympathies to the families of the victims.

Regarding the tragic railway station incident in Serbia, Nigeria also expressed its condolences to the people and government following the disaster that occurred in the Serbian town of Novi Sad on November 1, 2024. This incident resulted in the deaths of eight people, with two others hospitalised.

The statement noted that Nigeria’s thoughts and prayers are with those affected by these tragedies.
