LAFIA – Senator Abdullahi Adamu, the former national chairman of the ruling All Progressive Congress APC has said that his quest to invest in education has been his long dream.
He disclosed this during the first matriculation ceremony of the pioneer students of the Phoenix University Agwada in Kokona local government area of Nasarawa State.
Sen. Abdullahi Adamu, said the establishment of institutions of learning has always been a call to duty for me; added that he knew the transformative power of education.
According to him,” My life long quest has always been to invest in education. It is an asset that has enduring value and the knowledge acquired therein can never be taken away from the beneficiary.
“Now to our matriculating students. I am truly delighted to celebrate this day with you and your parents. When a few years ago we laid the foundation for this university, we did so with a mental picture of you in our minds.
“In so doing, we planted you as seeds even before you were admitted into this university. I can now confidently say that you are our seeds that have germinated.
Former national chairman of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC), said that as an agriculturist of many years, he was sufficiently aware of the joy a farmer experiences when the seeds he planted begin to germinate.
He also informed that the University has signed an agreements with universities outside Nigeria to expose you to learning from other climes through our online and digital instructional platforms.
Sen. Adamu, who is the visitor to the Phoenix University challenged matriculated students to work hard to graduate from the university with a minimum of a second class upper degree; adding that a pioneer student who graduate with First Class Degrees, the University will give consideration to retaining him as Graduate Assistants.
He further reminded they matriculated students that Phoenix University is not training them to be local operators in their local communities, but to go forward to influence Nasarawa State.
He however noted that the vision of the University is to train and produce graduates, who will leave the campus with a passion to invent new methods of doing things globally.
