Kebbi gov bags Gwarzon Daular Usmaniyya

His Eminence, the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, has conferred the traditional title of Gwarzon Daular Usmaniyya on Kebbi state Governor, Nasir Idris, in recognition of his cordial relations with the traditional institution.

A letter conveying the glad tidings to Comrade Governor Idris was read and delivered to him by the emissary of the Sultan, the Emir of Argungu, Alhaji Sama’ila Muhammadu Mera, at the Government House, Birnin Kebbi, on Friday.

“Your Excellency, we acknowledge your improvement of the education sector, health and security, worthy of commendation. This conferment of title is a symbol of appreciation to ginger you in serving humanity,” the Sultan wrote.

In response, the governor expressed delight about the honour and dignity shown to him by five powerful emirates.

“Today, the Sultan has honoured me with the title of Gwarzon Daular Usmaniyya; Gwandu has given me Kauran Gwandu; Argungu has conferred on me the title of Jigon Babi; Yauri honoured me with Gamjin Yauri; while Zuru bestowed on my humble self, Garkuwan Zuru.

“In Hausa land today, probably the whole Nigeria, no governor has been so honoured by these 1st class emirates like myself. This is the gift of God. I convey my gratitude to the Sultan. I will find time to visit the Sultanate Sokoto to show appreciation.” 

The governor reaffirmed commitment to hold the traditional institution in high esteem, and pledging full support to emirs, district, village, ward and community heads.

“We shall sustain our benevolence, compassion to them. My administration is always happy to see our traditional rulers well respected nationwide,” he stated.
