Newly licensed Thomas Adewumi University (TAU) Oko-Irese in Kwara state, will Tuesday November 26, graduate a total of 26 pioneer students of the university with six of them bagging first class degrees.
The vice-chancellor, Prof Francisca Oladipo, who made this known at a press briefing held at the university senate conference room on Friday, said the university’s graduates were distinct in all ramifications.
According to the VC, “We are not producing graduates for public service; we are producing graduates for world market.”
Prof Oladipo said the university, which was officially licensed by the federal government on April 8, 2021, began on May 16 of the same year with 13 academic programmes across three faculties, had expanded “significantly, offering 27 academic programmes in 24 departments under seven faculties, with a solid record of achievement, including 100% full accreditation by the National Universities Commission.”
She said Governor Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde of Oyo state would deliver the Convocation Lecture titled “The Fourth Industrial Revolution and the Future of Work: Implications for Nigerian Graduates” and he was also expected commission newly locally-engineered sustainable Student Hall of Residence.
“His Excellency Humphrey Geiseb, the High Commissioner of the republic of Namibia to the Federal Republic of Nigeria and ECOWAS, will give Convocation Commencement Address, His Excellency Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, will be our
Special Guest of Honours and will lay the foundation for the Faculty of Medicinal and Health building,” she said.
