INEC Reports Over 62% PVC Collection in Ondo State as Deadline Approaches

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that 62.2% of Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs) made available for collection in Ondo State have been successfully distributed.

The Commission revealed that during a five-day collection period, from October 17th to 21st, a total of 55,859 cards were picked up by eligible voters, including new registrants and those applying for transfers or replacements of lost or damaged cards.

This collection figure marks the highest percentage achieved in such a short period since the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) process was introduced in 2015. “This is a significant improvement and a positive development for voter participation in Ondo State,” noted Sam Olumekun, INEC’s National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, in a press release on Tuesday.

Olumekun further stated that the remaining 33,918 PVCs—representing 37.8% of the total 89,777 cards available—are yet to be collected. INEC is urging these voters to visit the Commission’s Local Government Area (LGA) offices in Ondo State to pick up their cards. “We appeal to the remaining voters to pick up their PVCs in person from our LGA offices,” Olumekun said, reiterating that collection by proxy will not be allowed.

The collection process will resume at INEC’s 18 LGA offices in Ondo State from Wednesday, October 23rd, and will run until Tuesday, October 29th. The offices will be open daily, including weekends, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
