Imo Police Reacts To Misleading Viral Video

Imo State Police Command, on Monday, reacted to a viral video showing vehicles set ablaze by some people who are linked with IPOB/ESN enforcing an unlawful sit-at-home order in Okigwe.

The command spokesman, Henry Okoye who made this known said the incident depicted actually occurred in 2022.

“The Command confirmed that this video is misleading; the incident depicted actually occurred in 2022. Its recirculation is a calculated attempt by mischief makers to instil unnecessary fear and anxiety in the state.

“The Command, therefore, warned against the spread of mischief, misinformation, and fake news, emphasizing that such actions are harmful and punishable by law and any individuals found guilty of false information will be prosecuted.” He noted

The Commissioner of Police Imo State Command, Aboki Danjuma urged the people of Imo State, particularly the residents of Okigwe to remain calm and continue their lawful activities without fear.

The viral video caused panic and tension in the state as residents observed the two-day sit-at-home warning issued by IPOB in the five states of the southeast of Nigeria.
