ABUJA – Archbishop Daniel Okoh, Presi­dent of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), has praised former Nigerian Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon (Rtd), for his unwavering commitment to Nigeria’s unity and progress as the elder statesman marks his 90th birthday.

In a message celebrating Gowon’s milestone, Archbishop Okoh commended the former leader’s pivotal role during one of Nigeria’s most challenging times the Civil War. “Your lead­ership during the Nigerian Civil War was crucial in maintaining the unity of our country. Your commitment to reconciliation and peace continues to inspire generations,” Okoh stated.

He lauded Gowon’s post-lead­ership contributions, particular­ly through his ‘Nigeria Prays’ initiative, which has mobilized millions in pursuit of divine intervention for the country’s challenges.

“The rallies you have led across Nigeria have strength­ened the spirit of unity and resil­ience among our people, remind­ing us that faith and solidarity are key to solving our problems,” the CAN president added.
