Gombe state governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, Tuesday, presented the N320 Billion 2025 Budget of Commitment and Resilience to the state House of Assembly.
Governor Yahaya stated that the budget titled underscores the administration’s commitment to addressing developmental aspirations while navigating economic challenges.
The governor outlined the allocation of N111.09 billion for recurrent expenditure representing 34.7% of the estimates, and N209.02 billion for capital expenditure, making 65.3% of the fiscal appropriation, with emphasis on infrastructure development, social services, and economic growth.
The budget is designed to generate N160.27 billion in recurrent revenues and N71.52 billion in capital receipts, with an expected closing balance of N11.68 billion for 2024.
Speaking on the 2024 budget performance, Governor Yahaya revealed a total expenditure of N179.26 billion as of September 30, 2024, representing 49.15% of the adjusted N364.71 billion budget.
Governor Yahaya acknowledged the fiscal and socio-economic challenges, including rising costs of living and climate-induced vulnerabilities.
To address these, the administration plans to strengthen revenue generation through enhanced tax collection, mobilise private sector investments as well as implement fiscal reforms and prioritise impactful programmes.
Governor Yahaya urged the state assembly to appraise and enrich the budget, ensuring it meets citizens’ aspirations. He reaffirmed his commitment to the Development Agenda for Gombe State (DEVAGOM), integrating Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into government policies.
The 2025 budget proposal highlights a strategic approach to fostering inclusive growth, resilience, and sustainable development in Gombe state.
Speaker of the House, Hon Mohammed Luggerrewo commended the governor for implementing people-oriented programmes in the state.
Luggerrewo assured that the proposal would be given speedy and due legislative scrutiny in the interest of the people.
