Aliyu Bahago Ahman Patigi, a well-known political figure from Kwara State and former member of the House of Representatives, has died.

Patigi, who represented the Edu/Moro/Patigi Federal Constituency from 2007 to 2019, passed away on Thursday, according to a statement released by his family.

The late politician also served as the Pro-Chancellor of Ahman Patigi University, located in Patigi, Kwara State. His family highlighted his significant contributions to education and politics, expressing hope that his loved ones will find comfort in this difficult time.

During his years in office, Patigi was recognized for his dedication to improving the lives of his constituents. He advocated for community development and supported legislative efforts aimed at enhancing socio-economic conditions in the region.

One of his major accomplishments was the establishment of Ahman Patigi University in 2021. The university, named after his father, who was a former First Republic Minister of Agriculture and Health, was founded with the aim of providing quality education to the North Central region, particularly the Nupe community.

As the Pro-Chancellor, Patigi played a key role in overseeing the university’s growth and in promoting education and development in his hometown.
