Ex-Sokoto AG Tackles Bafarawa Over N13bn Claim

Erstwhile Sokoto State Accountant General Aminu Abdullahi yesterday challenged former Governor Attahiru Bafarawa to provide evidence that he left N13 billion in the coffers of the state when he left office in 2007.

Bafarawa was quoted as saying he left the said money in the treasury after his tenure. However, Abdullahi said the former governor failed to disclose the source of the money.

He said: “We challenge him to disclose how he came about the money. “This claim coming 17 years after he left office is not only mischievous but a scheme to play with the intelligence of the people and to whip up sentiments for cheap political gains.

“Every reasonable person is aware that the claim by Bafarawa had been proven to be false and perceived as a fraudulent statement to deceive the people.

“However, I remembered that the EFCC had followed the case and filed 147 charges which included corruption, illegal sales of government shares, misappropriation, criminal breach of trust, receiving stolen property and unauthorised payment committed between 2003 and 2007.
