Edo Poll: Tinubu Calls For Peaceful Election

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has urged all candidates, political parties, and their supporters in the forthcoming Edo State governorship election, scheduled for September 21, 2024, to conduct themselves with civility and respect for the democratic process.

President Tinubu who made this appeal in a press statement released by his Special Adviser on Information & Strategy, Bayo Onanuga emphasized the importance of peaceful participation, respect for the rule of law, and patience throughout the election.

He commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for its commitment to a free and fair election and expressed confidence in the impartiality of security agencies.

The President noted the constructive campaign approaches by the candidates, focusing on improving livelihoods, economic growth, and development in Edo State.

Tinubu also reminded citizens to resolve any disputes amicably and to respect INEC’s authority.

He stated that democracy thrives on tolerance and respect for differing opinions.

Additionally, President Tinubu praised the professional integrity of the security forces, urging them to remain neutral in ensuring the integrity of the electoral process.

He further encouraged all stakeholders to work together to guarantee a successful, peaceful, and credible election that reflects the people’s will.
