Gov OtuMembers of the Magistrates Association of Nigeria, Cross River State chapter, have embarked on an indefinite strike with effect from Wednesday, November 27, 2024.
The strike is coming amid a warning strike embarked upon by organised labour in the state.
Magistrates have said the strike will not cease until their demands are met by the government.
They argue that the government has failed to implement their promotions and see to their overall welfare and working environment.
A bulletin jointly, signed by the association’s Chairman, Godwin Onah, and Secretary General, Solomon Abuo, dated Wednesday, November 27, 2024, confirmed the strike action. It reads in part, “Sequel to our communique issued on November 5, 2024, arising from the general meeting wherein eight demands were made from the Government of Cross River State.
“Furthermore, sequel to our letter to the Governor of Cross River State dated November 11, 2024, wherein the notice of strike, was extended to Friday, November 22, 2024, to enable the state government to attend to our demands, and having failed to do so till date, we hereby issue this bulletin.
