Senior Pastor, The Second Coming of Christ’s Ministry, Adewale Giwa has called on the Federal Government to begin yo sanction any acclaimed Minister of caught performing fake miracles to hoodwink his or her congregants.
He made the call on Wednesday in Akure while announcing his decision to become a full-time ministering in his church.
The US-based cleric disclosed that he has resigned from his workplace in the US since August in obedience to God’s directive that he should begin the pastoral work full time.
He said government should check the manner at which people are being scammed by some churches using fake miracles and dreadful messages to extort money from the unsuspecting congregants.
While commenting on confessional statement by some pastors that what they sometimes told their congregants were unbiblical and false, Pastor Giwa said the money paid by the congregants as a result of the falsehood should be refunded by the church.
Speaking on claim that politicians are not godly, the Minister of God blamed the people for the socio-economic woes they are passing through because they collect money in exchange for their votes.
Pastor Giwa said: “I am here to further propagate the word of God to the people, I cannot continue to sit in my comfort zone and pretend that everything is well with the body of Christ.
“I have demonstrated this by resigning from my lucrative job in the United States to further spread the gospel to the world. Of course, I know that, considering the current economic challenges facing our dear nation, it is a tough decision to mke -a very tough one. But with God on my side, I have no cause to panic. Souls are perishing in the hands of false preachers who trend on social media but are not trending in the presence of God.
“The confusion these preachers have brought to Christianity will only affect them. For instance, how can a preacher say God did not call Noah to build an ark? This is contrary to Genesis 6:14, which says God told Noah to build an ark. He not only instructed him to build it but also gave specific details on how it should be constructed.
“I am not surprised to see such preachers online because Jesus Christ warned us in Matthew 7:15 to beware of false prophets. They are not mocking the name of God; they are mocking themselves. No wonder unbelievers are now mocking them as well.
“Some are in ministry for personal gain, while others are genuinely there to make an impact, to change lives, and to preach the true word of God. Take, for example, the issue of tithing. Some believe it is compulsory, while others disagree.
“Deuteronomy 14:28-29 outlines four categories of people entitled to tithes: widows, foreigners, Levites, and the poor. However, in many churches today, there is little concern for how tithes are spent. Pastors claim tithes are meant for them, contrary to scripture.
“I am not here for personal gain. If I were, I would have stayed in the U.S., where I faced no financial difficulties. But when God called me to return home and lead His people, I could not refuse. This decision was tough. My wife initially opposed it, but who can argue with God? When He says yes, no one can dispute it.
“Regarding fake miracles, the government can intervene by regulating and arresting pastors involved in such acts. Fake miracles deceive people and tarnish the image of Christianity. Churches are meant to be places of worship, not business centers.
“Finally, addressing societal hardships, it is easy to blame politicians, but the problem often lies with individuals. During elections, people accept bribes and vote without integrity. Change must start with us.”
