Technical Adviser to the Benue state Governor on Media and Strategic Communication, Solomon Iorpev, Friday said the state has witnessed significant transformation since Governor Hyacinth Alia took over mantle of leadership.
Speaking when he visited the Nigeria Union of Journalists Correspondents’ Chapel, Iorpev noted that the administration inherited numerous deficits in health, agriculture, education, infrastructure, and transportation, but has made substantial progress in addressing these challenges.
According to him, one of the notable achievements made by the governor was the construction of 46 km of roads within the city center, with many previously abandoned streets reopened.
He said the projects have contributed greatly to improved access and mobility, increasing the value of land and properties within the affected areas.
Iorpev further noted that the administration was also constructing 52 roads simultaneously in various villages, aiming to bring the state up to speed.
“The city’s lighting project has been extended to other major cities, reducing crime rates.

“This administration has also made efforts to address the issue of insecurity, with a focus on kinetic and non-kinetic approaches.
“This administration has created jobs, allocated 15 per cent of the 2024 budget to education, and established the Benue State Education Quality Assurance Agency.

“The administration has also revitalised government assets, cut off leakages, and ensured prompt payment of salaries and pensions.
“Overall, I can say with all sense of humility that Governor Alia’s administration has demonstrated a commitment to transforming Benue state, addressing its inherited deficits, and improving the lives of its citizens,” he said.
