November 24, (THEWILL) – Air Peace has announced a partnership with The Boeing Company and the UK-based Cranfield University, aimed at fortifying its safety culture and operational excellence.
The collaboration, facilitated through the Boeing Global Learning Institute, featured an intensive five-day training program themed “Advanced Leadership in Safety Excellence”.
The training, held in person, brought together Air Peace’s top executives, postholders, and departmental leaders, equipping them with tools to enhance safety leadership, transform workplace safety culture, and drive continuous improvement.
The initiative underscores a shared commitment between Air Peace and Boeing to advancing aviation leadership while prioritising safety.
Speaking on the initiative, Harry Magui, Senior Organisational Consultant and Programme Manager at Boeing Global Learning Institute, said, “Boeing has long recognized the importance of supporting continuous learning among our aviation partners. Through our programs, we help develop leadership, business, and technical skills, enabling our partners to improve efficiency, strengthen teams, and grow their business.”
Magui also commended Air Peace for making safety a fundamental principle rather than just a priority.
“Air Peace has been phenomenal in advancing Nigeria’s aviation industry, and we are here to support them in harnessing future opportunities through this advanced safety leadership training,” he said.
The Head of Aerospace at Cranfield University, Professor Graham Braithwaite, lauded the program’s tailored approach, which directly addressed Air Peace’s operational challenges.
“This collaboration ensured the training culminated in real-world capstone projects that will leave a lasting impact,” he said.
Dr. Fabian Steinmann, Lecturer in Organisational Resilience and Change at Cranfield University, echoed this sentiment, highlighting the importance of blending global best practices with local insights.
“We’re here to share lessons learned from around the world and adapt them to Air Peace’s operations, ensuring a robust and flexible safety system,” Steinmann added.
The program combined theoretical insights with practical applications.
In its first phase, Air Peace’s leadership engaged with Cranfield and Boeing experts to align operational strategies with the training’s objectives.
The second phase focused on advanced tools and strategies for safety leadership, empowering participants to implement their learnings across the organisation.
Captain Godfrey Ogbogu, Safety Manager at the airline, described the training as a critical step in the airline’s journey.
“This well-structured program reinforces our existing knowledge while exposing us to new avenues of learning. The aviation industry is dynamic, and Air Peace remains committed to staying ahead of developments,” he said.
The program also emphasised accountability through follow-up review sessions, ensuring participants continued to enhance their leadership skills and safety projects.
