Nigeria’s largest bank in terms of asset size, Access Bank has unveiled plans to recognize women doing remarkable things across Africa in the 2025 edition of its Power of 100 initiative.

According to Chizoma Okoli, the Deputy Managing Director of the bank, said the bank has expanded its renowned “Power of 100” initiative to a pan-African level, extending the program to 16 countries across the continent.

Originally launched in 2015 to recognize 100 Nigerian women making remarkable contributions in various sectors, the project has now evolved into “Power of 100 Africa,” celebrating trailblazing women across the continent in fields such as health, education, business, advocacy, and technology Okoli emphasized the bank’s unwavering commitment to championing women’s empowerment.

She explained that the initiative’s expansion was a deliberate move to spotlight the impact of African women beyond Nigeria. She said, “We are thrilled to take this to a continental scale because we believe that women across Africa are making extraordinary contributions to their communities and industries”.

The “Power of 100 Africa” project will spotlight women from countries including Ghana, Kenya, South Africa, Uganda, Mozambique, Zambia, and Nigeria, among others where Access Bank has a presence.

According to Okoli, the initiative seeks not only to celebrate these women but also to amplify their impact across the continent.

“This initiative is about driving positive change in communities where these women lead. It will create a network of women supporting each other through the W Community, promoting collaboration and shared success.

The project aims to inspire the next generation of female leaders. We are excited about the potential impact,” Okoli added.
