The All Progressives Congress (APC), Zamfara state chapter, has dragged Zamfara State Independent Electoral Commission (ZASIEC) before the Federal High Court, over alleged illegalities in the conduct of the November 16 local government council elections.
In an originating summons, APC alleged that the electoral body failed to meet the requirements for the conduct of the election.
Joined in the matter are National Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) and state Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice.
According to the summons, APC alleged that ZASIEC failed to meet constitutional requirements for the conduct of the council election.
The APC, however, prayed the court to bar the State Independent Electoral Commission from conducting the election on November 16th.
“We urge the court to bar the electoral body, ZASIEC, from going ahead with the planned local government council election”, the summons stated.
