WUCO To Host Conference On Innovative Solutions For Future Of Air Transport In Africa

ABUJA – The World United Consumers Organization (WUCO) is set to host an International Air Transport Conference. The event will take place on November 20-21, 2024, in Abuja, Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory

A conference themed, “Air Transport in Africa: Prospects and Challenges” will bring together leading airline operators, policymakers, regulators, legal experts, and stakeholders from the aviation sector. The event aims to address the current state of Africa’s air transport industry and explore effective solutions to its pressing challenges.

Bar Clement Osuya, President of the World United Consumers Organization (WUCO), emphasized the significant barriers to growth within Africa’s air transport infrastructure. “High costs, technical challenges, and legal complexities hinder progress,” he stated.

He also highlighted the importance of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) in facilitating the seamless movement of people and goods across the continent, calling for urgent action to overcome these obstacles.

The upcoming two-day conference aims to foster collaboration among stakeholders, providing a dynamic platform for meaningful discussions, sharing of expertise, and addressing the key challenges facing the aviation industry. Participants will explore innovative solutions to harness the full potential of air travel as a catalyst for trade and development across Africa.

Supported by the Federal Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development, the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority, the Federal Airports Authority, and the Nigeria Airspace Management Agency, this event will bring together major Civil Aviation Authorities from across Africa. Together, they will work towards creating a more efficient, safe, and reliable air transport system in the region.

“Africa’s air transport industry holds immense potential for growth, but realizing this potential requires a collective effort from regulators, policymakers, and industry leaders,” stated Osuya. “This conference will serve as a vital platform for stakeholders to collaborate in creating a more efficient, safe, and customer-centric air transport system in Africa.”
