WOWICAN Holds 30th Nat’l Convention, Says  Wisdom, Collective Action’ll  Transform Nigeria

The Women’s Wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria (WOWICAN) has called for collective prayers and other positive actions for a transformed Nigeria.

This is as the body called on Christian women to step up and refuse shying from taking on greater leadership roles and producing desired impacts in their communities, churches, and families.

WOWICAN’s National Chairperson, Her Eminence, General Lady Superintendent, Prophetess (Dr.) Elizabeth Ayobami Akinadewo, made the call to herald the 30th National Convention, holding Wednesday October 23 to Sunday 27, at St. Patrick’s Catholic School, Calabar, Cross River State.

According to the Chairperson, the historic gathering of women across the nation with the theme ‘The Role of Women at a Time Like This’, provides the platform for inspiration, renewal of hope and recommitment to the spiritual and social upliftment of women nationwide.

She noted that several “seasoned speakers and faith leaders” will lead sessions on topics including: women in leadership and politics, women’s mental health, importance of vaccination, family resource management and the power of prayer in challenging times.

Her words: “As Christian women, we are called to be agents of peace, advocates for gender equality, and beacons of hope in our world.

“We believe that through collective prayers, wisdom, and action, we can influence positive change in our nation and beyond.

“Over the past years, WOWICAN has collaborated with national and international bodies to promote causes such as gender-based violence awareness, vaccination campaigns, and mental health support.

“This includes working with UN Women, Mercy Corps, and the National Primary Health Care Development Agency on projects aimed at improving the welfare of women and children across Nigeria.

“WOWICAN looks forward to a transformative convention, with renewed commitment to the spiritual and social upliftment of women nationwide.”
