Sydney Sweeney Shows Off Biceps From Upcoming Boxing Biopic 

 Sydney Sweeney has previewed her performance as boxer Christy Martin. The ‘Euphoria’ star revealed her new style from the set of a forthcoming boxing biopic in an Instagram post. 

“Well the cats out of the bag thanks to some paps in bushes so here’s a little BTS from my film I’m working on right now,” Sweeney wrote, revealing an image of herself with brown, frizzy bangs and another pic of herself flexing her biceps in ’90s workout gear. 

Sweeney said that she’s worked hard to achieve her transformation. “Over the past few months, I’ve been immersed in training to bring to life the story of an incredible woman — a true champion who fought battles both inside and outside the ring. Her journey is a testament to resilience, strength, and hope, and I’m honoured to step into her shoes to share her powerful story with you all. more to come soon,” she wrote. 

Martin is one of the most prominent female boxers in the sport’s history, notching 49 wins, seven losses, and three draws across her career, which spanned from 1989 to 2012. 

Her personal life may be even more dramatic than her professional achievements, though: she first married her coach Jim Martin in 1991, who attempted to murder her in their home in 2010. He was ultimately found guilty of attempted murder in the second degree, and the athlete is now married to rival boxer Lisa Holewyne. 

Sweeney’s Martin biopic will be directed by David Michôd, the Australian filmmaker behind projects like ‘Animal Kingdom’, ‘The Rover’, ‘War Machine’, and ‘The King’. The biopic, which does not yet have an official title, will also star Ben Foster (Leave No Trace), Merritt Wever (Marriage Story), Katy O’Brian (Love Lies Bleeding), and Ethan Embry (Grace and Frankie). 

Sweeney is currently in the midst of an impressive run of notable projects. After her critically acclaimed turn in the docudrama Reality and the runaway success of the rom-com ‘Anyone But You’ in 2023, the actress co-starred in Sony’s superhero oddity ‘Madame Web’ and headlined the indie horror movie ‘Immaculate’ this year.
