DAMATURU – A joint security council meeting held at Government House Damaturu has assured permanent peace between farmers and herders in Yobe State.
The meeting, chaired by Deputy Governor Idi Barde Gubana, brought together heads of security agencies, traditional rulers, local government chairmen, and leaders of Miyetti Allah.
Governor Mai Mala Buni emphasized the need for a close watch during the harvesting period to prevent clashes between farmers and herders.
The meeting resulted in several resolutions, including: Utilization and implementation of conflict resolution mechanisms; intensified surveillance and prompt response to security matters;
Sensitization engagement and enlightenment campaigns.
It also resolved to employ proactive measures by stakeholders and community leaders as well as the use of technology for intelligence gathering.
The Governor appealed to the people of Yobe State to continue supporting security agencies and providing necessary information in order to maintain peace in the state.
