DAMATURU – A Cross-Learning Workshop on the Violence Against Persons Prohibition (VAPP) Law and Child Protection Law has been held in Kano, with stakeholders from Borno, Adamawa, and Yobe (BAY) states in attendance.
The workshop, convened by AFRYDEV with support from Care Nigeria and USAID, aimed to establish a comprehensive framework for enhancing legal and policy insights, addressing implementation gaps, and fostering collaborative solutions for effective enforcement of the laws.
Participants at the workshop included key stakeholders from the BAY states, who engaged in discussions to share progress, lessons learned, best practices, and challenges encountered in the domestication and implementation of the VAPP and Child Protection Laws.
In an overview of the workshop, the Executive Director of AFRYDEV, represented by Program Manager Edoka Ogwuche Abdullahi, emphasized the importance of a unified approach to protecting vulnerable populations and creating safer communities across the BAY states.
The workshop also focused on strategizing solutions to ensure a safe and just society for all, with a roadmap for harmonizing state-level efforts and cross-state coordination in the implementation of the laws.
