Anambra State 2024 solution innovation week, on Friday, ended with Governor Chukwuma Soludo promising to train 1 million youth in digital skills and innovation.

Soludo, who stated this at Awka, the state capital, during the grand finale of the weeklong event, said his government was determined to empower the youth with skills in digital technology and innovation, including other aspects of the economy so as to make them job creators and experts to be outsourced worldwide.

The programme organised by Solution Innovation District, a state government agency, featured digital and technological exhibitions, competitions, career conferences, quiz competition, startup, hackathons and others, with winners smiling to banks.

According to him, Anambra state government would also track the progress of the winners of the innovation week with a view to supporting them to explore and conquer in their chosen careers.

The governor, while also celebrating with those who graduated from Code Anambra programme and Techie for Solution volunteers, organised by the Solution Innovation District, charged the beneficiaries to contribute skills and knowledge gained towards uplifting the younger generation.

“We are offering you these skills and opportunities for free. We don’t expect you to pay us back. We want you to explore and move on.  We are not expecting you to pay us back. You can actually get into volunteering your services by empowering others with what you have acquired,” he said.

Earlier, the Convener and Special Adviser to the governor on Innovation and Business Incubation, Miss Chinwe Okoli, said the programme themed “Creating the Future of Africa Now,” was a clarion call to leverage the transformative power of technology and innovation in building an Africa that thrives in the digital economy.
