LAGOS – Ahead of the three-week orientation programme for the 2024 Batch C course, the Lagos State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Christiana Salmwang, has urged members of staff to ensure the prudent use of resources at their operations.
She made this appeal during the step-down session of the resolutions from the Annual Management Conference (AMC) and Pre-orientation Workshop held at the NYSC Lagos State Secretariat in Surulere.
Salmwang emphasized the importance of resource management for the successful execution of the 2024 Batch ‘C’ Orientation Course, which will be flagged off on Friday, November 25, 2024, nationwide.
She also advised staff to avoid rumour-mongering and misinformation, stressing the need for teamwork and exemplary leadership to uphold a high level of discipline in the camp.
The State Coordinator highlighted the critical role of proper guidance for Corps Members and cautioned against misdirection.
Reflecting on the excellent reception previously extended to Prospective Corps Members in Lagos State, she noted the importance of maintaining this standard and urged staff to welcome Corps Members with warmth, empathy, and smiling faces.
During the meeting, participants from the recently concluded AMC Pre-Orientation and Pre-Mob Workshop shared the key resolutions with other staff members.
In addition, staff were advised on stress management strategies as preparations for the orientation course reached top gear.
Delivering a talk on stress and mental well-being, Miss Ejiro Paul from the Lagos State Ministry of Health recommended listening to music and practising mindfulness, such as focusing on one’s breathing, as effective ways to cope with stress.
She also advised staff to manage and tolerate young adults by overlooking minor excesses, which can help reduce stress levels.
With these proactive measures and a renewed focus on teamwork, NYSC Lagos is set to deliver yet another successful orientation exercise.
