Reps to suspend plenary as standing committees embark on MDAs oversight

Members of the House of Representatives will on Monday, 4th November 2024 embark on oversight function to all the Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).

Hence, the House resolved to suspend the plenary session for a week.

Speaking during Wednesday’s plenary, Speaker Tajudeen Abbas disclosed that the House will embark on a week-long recess from Monday, November 4th, 2024 to Monday, November 11th, 2024 in order to allow Members perform critical oversight of Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) of Government to ensure proper accountability for and on behalf of the Nigerian people.

He, therefore, urged all the MDAs to cooperate with the visiting Parliamentarians in compliance with the provisions of the 1999 Constitution (as amended.

According to the Speaker, plenary will resume on Tuesday, November 12th, 2024.

Also at plenary, the Speaker announced the renaming of the House Committee on Niger Delta to the House Committee on Regional Development.

Recall that President Bola Tinubu had during the reorganisation of the MDAs announced the establishment of the Ministry of Regional Development.

Meanwhile, a member of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP – Zamfara State), Hon. Suleiman Abubakar Gumi has defected to All Progressives Congress (APC).
