Members of the House of Representatives on Tuesday urged relevant security agencies to urgently address the operations of criminal ‘one-chance’ taxi operators in Abuja, which led to the death of his Legislative Aide, the late Miss Na’ima Sulaiman.
The resolution was passed following the adoption of a motion on matters of urgent public importance, sponsored by Hon. Dabo Ismail Haruna.
Leading the debate, Hon. Haruna stated that the criminal activities of these taxi operators have been recurring incidents that leave victims traumatized and mentally distressed.
He noted that the late Miss Sulaiman was a Legislative Aide in the National Assembly, serving in his office. Despite the full ransom payment, she was tragically murdered.
He, therefore, called on the joint Committees on Police, FCT, and National Intelligence to conduct a comprehensive investigation and collaborate with key stakeholders such as the FCT Minister, the FCT Commissioner of Police, and the Director-General of the State Security Service (SSS) to ensure this problem is eradicated.
As a result, the House mandated the joint Committee on Police, FCT, and National Security and Intelligence to take action.

In a related development, the House resolved to investigate the gruesome murder of over 10 youths in Anambra State.
This resolution followed the adoption of a motion sponsored by Hon. Lilian Orogbu.
In her lead debate, Hon. Orogbu explained that the youths were murdered on Sunday, October 20, 2024, while participating in the celebration of the New Yam Festival.
She noted that the incident has instilled fear among residents of the community.
While lamenting that such killings have become a recurring issue over the past two years, she called on the Nigeria Police to conduct a thorough investigation and urged the Federal Government to deploy more security personnel to restore peace in the region.
