The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has won all chairmanship positions in the recent council elections held on September 22.

Chairman of the Enugu State Independent Electoral Commission (ENSIEC), Prof. Christian Ngwu, announced the results and praised the commission for conducting a free and fair election.

He described the election as the most transparent yet, noting that the results were meticulously collated and analysed to prevent any errors.

“We carefully collated and analysed the results to ensure that there were no mistakes,” he said. However, none of the candidates from opposition parties, who contested the chairmanship position visited the Enugu State Independent Electoral Commission (ENSIEC) where the election results were announced.

He committed to providing jobs for employable individuals and organising skills acquisition programs that would benefit the entire community.

He said: “I’ll make sure that the youth of Oji River are gainfully employed. Those who are employable will get employed.” Meanwhile, the PDP candidate in Enugu East Council Area, Pst. Beloved-Dan Anike, has been declared winner of the Saturday’s chairmanship election in the state.

The returning officer, Dr Nelson Ossai, while announcing the result yesterday said the PDP candidate scored a total of 116,690 votes to defeat his closest opponent, Ozor of the Labour Party who scored 9,848 votes.

The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) followed with 3,839 votes to finish third.
