The Chairman of the Ondo State Council of Obas and the Deji of Akure, Oba Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade Aladelusi, has blessed Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa ahead of the November 16 governorship election.

Aiyedatiwa, the gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the off-cycle governorship election, was at the palace with his deputy, Dr Olayide Adelami, and top party members led by its Chairman, Ade Adetimehin to pay homage as parts of effort to woo voters in the Akure South Local Government.

Aladelusi, in his address, described Governor Aiyedatiwa as a man who has pedigree and respect for the traditional rulers and institutions in the state.

The monarch said Aiyedatiwa had always portrayed the spirit of humility and had been supporting the cause of Akure kingdom and its people for development.

While noting that the governor deserved to be supported in realizing his dream of retaining the governor’s seat, the traditional ruler pleaded with Aiyedatiwa to sustain his infrastructural projects, especially in the areas of road construction, and provisions of street solar lights in Akure.

He also urged the governor to ensure the roads leading to the Oba’s market within the state capital are constructed to ease trade and transactions for market men and women in the city.

The monarch said “The governor is performing well, and he needs to be supported for his ambition. Here in Akure, we have been enjoying his support in areas of infrastructure.

“However, we plead that the governor should help us construct the internal roads in Akure and place premium on our market roads and Igbatoro road because that axis leads to Benin in Edo state and it will ease transportation.”

He urged the people to eschew violence and ensure they troop out on election day to exercise their franchise in the off-cycle election without any fear.

Addressing the traditional rulers from the Akure South Local Government led by the Deji of Akure, Aiyedatiwa promised the people of the Akure kingdom to initiate more infrastructural projects, especially road construction across the kingdom, if elected.

The governor, who explained that Akure had been a peaceful city, said his government was ready to ensure its beautification to allow the town to be more attractive as the state capital.

The governor said “Akure remains one of the most peaceful states in Nigeria. If any development wants to happen in the state for good, it must start from Akure. We have been doing what you ask for, we will continue to do more. I have not started the government at all.”

While disclosing that his administration would restructure the state budget to suit his plans for the development of the state, Aiyedatiwa asked them to troop out in large numbers to vote for him come November 16th.

His words: “I am so happy for what I see here. What Obas prophesied last time is the same voice they pronounced today. I am not someone who is not in a position before. I am not here to promise.

“You have seen me and know what I am up to. Since I was a Deputy Governor, I have been handling issues relating to Obas. The voice of kings is just like God’s voice. That is why I can get the ticket for the party. We have seen a sitting governor who lost the primary election.”
