Ododo Congratulates Okpebholo On Edo Election Victory

Kogi State Governor, Usman Ododo has joined other notable individuals to congratulate Senator Monday Okpebholo, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate and winner of the Edo State governorship election held on Saturday.

In a statement issued on Monday by his Special Adviser, Ismail Isah, Governor Ododo expressed his joy at the APC’s victory and prayed for divine guidance as Okpebholo prepares to lead Edo State into a new era of development.

New Telegraph reported earlier that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Okpebholo the winner of the election on Sunday, with a total of 291,667 votes.

He defeated his closest challenger, Asue Ighodalo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who garnered 247,274 votes in a keenly contested race.

Ododo, who was present in Akoko-Edo during the election, praised the people of Edo State for their peaceful and orderly conduct at the polls, noting that they had fulfilled their promise by electing Okpebholo as the next governor.

“I want to congratulate my brother for running a good race to emerge as the Edo State Governor-elect and the leadership of the party for the resilience and determination that led to the return of the APC to power in the state,” Ododo said.

He also commended INEC and security agencies for their professionalism in ensuring that the election process was peaceful and orderly.

Ododo reaffirmed the APC’s commitment, along with the Governor-elect’s, to prioritizing the welfare of Edo citizens and to ensure that every segment of the state is included in the administration’s development agenda, aligned with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

Ododo further emphasized the importance of strengthening the socio-cultural and economic ties between Kogi and Edo, neighbouring states, and expressed his desire to deepen cooperation between the two states.

He prayed for God’s guidance for Okpebholo as he prepared to steer Edo State towards growth and progress.
