No Casualty as Minor Fire Outbreak Occurs in UCH

The management of the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, Oyo State, has confirmed a minor fire outbreak in the health institution, but said no damage was recorded.

UCH’s Public Relations Officer, Funmi Adetuyibi, who confirmed the incident in a statement on behalf of the Chief Medical Director, Professor Jesse Otegbayo, noted that the incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday, September 22, 2024.

Adetuyibi said: “The incident was caused by a spark at the changeover box of the Medicine Laboratory on the third floor of the hospital.

“The fire outbreak was limited to the changeover panel in one of the rooms in the laboratory. “No major damage was recorded. It was put out immediately by the courageous staff of the hospital who were on ground.

“The fire service officials also arrived on time and rendered excellent service to assuage the effects of the outbreak.”

She stressed that the incident did not in any way disrupt the activities of the hospital, saying, “most of the pictures of the fire outbreak being spread around are not pictures of the University College Hospital, Ibadan.
