Nigeria Ranks 84th In Energy Trilemma Index

…Experts To Proffer Strategies for Nigeria Energy Security AT NAPE 42nd Annual Conference

The President-elect, Nigerian Association of Petroleum Explorationists (NAPE), Mr Jonhbosco Uche, has decried that Nigeria now ranks 84th in the Energy Trilemma index.

He said that the association would continue its drive for solutions to challenges in Nigeria’s energy sector.

He spoke during a briefing by NAPE to announce its 42nd Annual International Conference and Exhibition, scheduled for November 10th to 14th in Lagos, according a statement on Friday.

The forthcoming conference is themed: ‘Resolving the Nigerian Energy Trilemma: Energy Security, Sustainable Growth and Affordability.’

Uche said: “Nigeria is now ranked 84th in the Energy Trilemma index. This shows worse indices when it comes to energy security and Affordability.

“As the largest association of E&P in Nigeria, NAPE, with over 10,000 membership strength cutting across professional and student members, has placed resolving the Nigerian Energy Trilemma as a priority issue for our conference”.

NAPE President, Dr. Abiodun Ogunjobi, said that the group is expecting “between 1,500 and 2,000 delegates in Lagos” for the conference and about 125 golfers comprising of Senators and senior leaders in the industry for the golf event in Abuja.

He added that experts in the oil and gas sector will proffer solutions and strategies to advance the sector.

Speaking during the training session for journalists after the briefing, Chairman, Board of Trustee, NAPE, George Osahan, decried that the Nigeria’s oil production and revenue had continued to decline.

He urged the government to put in place good policy framework and incentives that boost investment in the sector.

The workshop for journalist covering the oil and gas industry was themed; ‘Trends in Energy Transition and AI- Assisted Oil and Gas Reporting for Oil & Gas Media Professionals.’

The Publicity Secretary, NAPE, Mr. Austin Mgbemere opined that NAPE will continue to partner with journalists and other stakeholders in providing platform for learning, nurturing best practices, evolving new solutions, industry advocacy and enhancing economic development.
