NDE Actualises Renewed Hope Agenda On Employment Generation: Engages Unemployed Youths, Persons In Ogun

The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) in line with its mandate of job creation has rolled out 93,731 jobs nationwide.

This was disclosed recently by the Director General of the NDE, Silas Agara, in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.

According to the NDE Director General, the mass employment programme would key squarely into the Renewed Hope Mass Employment agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu giving expression in six out of the eight priority areas of the present administration.

NDE was established in 1986 to checkmate rising unemployment in Nigeria. It commenced job creation programmes in January 1987 under its four core programmes namely; Vocational Skills Development (VSD), Small Scale Enterprises (SSE), Rural Employment Promotion (REP) and Special Public Works (SPW).

According to the release made available by the Directorate in Ogun State, the agency will provide vocational, agricultural and entrepreneural skills training with complementing transient job opportunities for the participants in the public works sector using over 30 different skill sets.

Speaking further on the implementation of the Programme, the NDE Coordinator in Ogun State, Mrs. Oshinowo K. A., said that participants for the programme will be drawn from all the 236 wards of the 20 local government areas in Ogun State, adding that registration will be online for inclusivity.

“For proper inclusion and transparency, the Director General of the NDE, His Excellency Silas Agara, has directed that minimum of ten persons should be considered from each of the electoral wards nationwide”.

According to Oshinowo, some of the training skills and trades for the job creation exercises will include fish production, poultry production, feed prodction, crop production, goat rearing, catering, hairdressing, digital marketing, solar energy training scheme, graduate attachment programme (GAP), tailoring and others.

He stated that at the end of the training, startup capital, equipment and working tools will be provided for the deserving participants to start their businesses.

He added that others would be linked to credit granting institutions to access loans to enable them commence Small and Medium Scale businesses.

He disclosed that registration of unemployed persons will commence on Monday 21st October, 2024.
He advised interested people to log on to the NDE job portal at www.nde.gov.ng with valid e-mail address, NIN and passport photograph for registration or visit NDE Ogun State office at Federal Secretariat Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.
