MTN Foundation Has Become A Beacon Of Positive Change – Sanwo-Olu

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has praised the MTN Foundation for its unwavering commitment to socio-economic development through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives over the past 20 years. The governor was represented by Mrs. Folasade Ambrose-Medebem, Commissioner for Commerce, Cooperatives    Trade and Investment, at the MTN Foundation’s 20th Anniversary celebration dinner held at the Balmoral Convention Centre in Ikeja recently.

Delivering the Governor’s goodwill message, Folasade Ambrose-Medebem highlighted the Foundation’s dedication to community and sustainable development across Nigeria. “MTN Foundation has become a beacon of positive change, impacting millions of lives across the country. Since its inception, it has embraced an unwavering vision to uplift communities, enhance access to healthcare and education, and empower Nigerians with digital skills.”

The Commissioner emphasized the significant impact of MTN Foundation’s efforts in Lagos State. “In Lagos State, we have witnessed firsthand the influence of the MTN Foundation over the years. Their commitment aligns with our goals of transforming healthcare, enhancing education, and promoting digital literacy. The foundation’s investments in 110 science laboratories, various scholarships, and their support for maternal and child health have been invaluable.”

She encouraged the Foundation to maintain its commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility, underscoring the importance of public-private partnerships in driving sustainable development. “The Foundation’s work reminds us that through collaboration, we can meet the needs of our people and make strides toward a brighter future. The future of Nigeria depends on such collective action.”

Over the past 20 years, the MTN Foundation has invested over N30 billion in more than 50 projects, positively impacting the lives of Nigerians across 3,323 communities.

Dennis Okoro, Acting Chairman of MTN Foundation, expressed gratitude to the foundation’s partners and stakeholders while reaffirming its commitment to national development. “Surrounded by friends, partners, and supporters who have shared in our journey, we reflect on the countless lives touched and communities transformed. Your support fuels our passion to strive for excellence, innovation, and sustainability in everything we do,” Okoro remarked. “This dinner is not only a celebration of our achievements but also a renewal of our commitment to the future.”

The dinner also served as a platform to unveil the foundation’s new logo, vision, and mission statements to its stakeholders and partners in Lagos, signifying its renewed commitment to enhancing the quality of life for all Nigerians.

During the unveiling, Executive Director, MTN Foundation Odunayo Sanya reiterated the foundation’s goal to reach more people and transform more communities. “Our purpose is to create opportunities that drive sustainable growth within our communities. We envision a Nigeria where no community is left behind.”

The evening featured electrifying musical performances and memorable moments as distinguished guests celebrated MTN Foundation’s impact over the past two decades and its renewed dedication to making a difference where it matters most.
