A 45 year old man , Dauda Ogundotun, has appeared before the Iyaganku Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan on Thursday on suspicion of receiving a N850,000 stolen car.
Ogundotun, whose address was withheld, entered a not guilty plea to a count of receiving a stolen car.
The defendant committed the act on September 23 at 2:30 p.m. in the Agbowo neighbourhood of Ibadan, according to the prosecutor, ASP Foluke Adedosu, who testified in court.
According to Adedosu, the defendant allegedly knew that the ash-colored Mazda Primacy car with registration number KRD 141 DG was stolen when they acquired it. She claimed that Mrs. Rachael Oyeniran, the complainant, was the owner of the stolen car.
The offence was against Section 427 of the Oyo State 2000 Criminal Law.Mr. Rilwan Adekunle, the defence attorney, asked the court to grant his client the most lenient bail possible.
The defendant was given N300,000 in bail by the magistrate, Mrs. M. M. Olagbenro, along with two sureties in an equivalent amount. The case was postponed to December 9th for mention by Olagbenro.
