In a bold move to restore order and free traffic flow, the Lagos State Taskforce has launched a successful enforcement operation against roadside traders in Ikotun.
The operation, led by Chairman CSP Adetayo Akerele, targeted Ikotun Bus Stop opposite Irepodun Market along Idimu Road, where street traders and commercial buses had caused traffic chaos.
The exercise aimed to address long-standing complaints about street trading, illegal parking, and commercial vehicles obstructing traffic. Residents and commuters welcomed the operation, expressing relief that the previously congested streets are now free for pedestrians, passengers, and vehicles to move without hindrance.
A resident, Mrs. Zainab Ajokeade, praised the operation, saying, “This is a new lease of life for us; the constant gridlock caused by street traders and illegally parked vehicles is finally gone.”
CSP Akerele assured residents that the Lagos State Taskforce will sustain this correction and maintain order in the area. He urged traders and motorists to comply with Lagos State Market best practices and traffic laws.
The operation is part of the Agency’s efforts to maintain law and order in Lagos State, following observations drawn through their “See Something, Say Something” feedback mechanism.
