Lion Nosiru Olalekan Moibi, Charter President of the Lagos Cupid Lions Club District 404B2 Nigeria, has pledged to serve with other members of the club and make a lasting impact on the lives of underprivileged individuals in the communities.
He made the commitment while speaking during his installation as the Charter President of the club for the 2024/2025 service year and fundraising ceremony, held at Abule Egba, Lagos.
The inauguration and the installation of other club officers was carried out by Lion Tolulope Senbanjo, District Governor 404B2 Nigeria.
Moibi noted that he is dedicated to ensuring that the objectives of the Lion Club International is passionately driven, while upholding the standard, mission and vision of the association, stressing that the club will do its best to achieve the set global causes of vision, education, diabetes, childhood cancer, youth empowerment, hunger relief, environmental and humanitarian efforts.
While speaking on the activities of the club, Moibi said that a need assessment was carried out in the Agbado Oke-Odo and Ekoro communities and it was discovered that they need water.
He said that the club provided two boreholes for two communities in the area which will serve at least 5000 people in each of the Communities.
On education he said during the literacy day, the club donated reading books and exercise books to students of the school and was also informed that the school needs a well furnished computer rooms.
“We know that the government alone cannot do the work, so that’s why we are there as Lions Club. One of their needs is a computer classroom for their students. So we take it upon ourselves that, we will equip that classroom, renovate the rooms, and will provide computers for them.
In the area of health, he said the club is creating awareness for diabetics and will also give free health screening to the residents of this area.
“In Lions club we are trying to get to the grassroots, we need to focus more on the less privilege. So most of these things we are doing is for humanity.
He further urged members of the club to do more and be more committed to supporting those in need.
Lion Tolulope Senbanjo, District Governor 404B2 Nigeria while speaking at the event tasked the members of the club to let the theme for the year which is ‘Service First: Creating a Lasting Impact’ guide and inspire them to strive for excellence in all their endeavors.
“May it remind you that our purpose as Lions is to serve others, to make a positive difference in our communities and to leave a lasting legacy.”
He appealed to the club to focus on growing it’s membership, creating exciting activities to retain existing members and contribute to Lions club International Foundation (LCIF) which enabled the Club to make a global impact.
