Islamic clerics from various sects have lauded the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, for his role in the recent elimination of a notorious bandits’ leader, Halilu Sububu, along with several of his followers.

The commendation was made during a courtesy visit by the clerics, led by Dr. Bashir Aliyu Umar, to the minister’s office in Abuja.

Umar described the operation as a significant achievement, noting that the success came shortly after President Bola Tinubu directed security chiefs to relocate to the affected region to curb the rising insecurity.

“As religious leaders, and also representatives of our people, we have to express our appreciation because of the success in eliminating the bandits’ leader and many of his followers.

“The administration of President Tinubu also deserves such commendation for its immediate action towards protecting the lives and property of the people.

“With the recent security measures, a lot of successes have been recorded, and also the security situation has improved compared to before.

“We pray and hope that such measures can be sustained so that other bandits’ leaders, especially Bello Turji and others can be eliminated soon.

“We are confident in the actions of the minister and other security agencies in this crucial situation. And we have the belief that they will succeed in ending the insecurity,” Umar said.

The religious leaders also called on Nigerians to continue to pray for peace and security in the country, especially areas facing the security challenges.

They also prayed for the minister and other head of the security agencies to succeed in ending the insecurity.
