Independence Day: CDS basketball championship kicks off October 2

All is now set for the 2024 Chief of Defence Staff Independence Day Basketball Championship in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The tournament is to mark Nigeria’s Independence Day while it is expected to last for five days.

According to organisers, the competition is scheduled between October 2 and 6, 2024 with 16 top teams participating at the Mo Arena in Abuja’s Zone 5.

The championship is expected to showcase the best of Nigerian basketball talent, with teams competing fiercely for the coveted title.

The competing teams are: Kada Stars, Kano Pillars, Gombe Bulls, Niger Potters, Kwara Falcon, Dodan Warriors, Civil Defence, FCT Hard Rockers, Novena, Gilali, Heartlanders, City Chief, Marktown Flyers Gilali, Rivers Hoopers, Armed Forces, Bauchi Nets and Customs.

In his remark ahead of the opening ceremony, the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa has given his assurance that participating teams and fans will witness a top-notch championship.
