The Baby Convention 2024, themed “Work-Life Balance for Mums: Myths, Magic, or Must- Have?”, recently concluded at La Madison Event Center in Lekki, Lagos. The two-day event brought together parents, caregivers, and pediatric experts to discuss modern parenting challenges, share insights, and engage in interactive family-friendly activities.

Hosted by renowned pediatrician Dr. Ayodele Renner, the convention addressed crucial topics in parenting, fostering an atmosphere of learning and community support.

The convention began with a lighthearted karaoke session led by Dr. Renner, setting a relaxed tone before his welcome address. Attendees were treated to a lineup of enlightening sessions, including: Dr. Renner’s masterclass on “Building a Village to Raise a Child,” emphasising the importance of community in parenting; Dr. Cole Adeife’s discussion on baby skincare; and A panel titled “Powering Moms”, which examined how childcare can support career goals, featuring speakers like Fab Mum NG, Ify Mogekwu, and Caring Africa.

Day two spotlighted fatherhood with “Fatherhood 101”, a candid session where actors Stan Nze, Akah Nnani, and Dr. Chinonso Egemba (Aproko Doctor) shared their parenting journeys and practical advice. Additional discussions included managing screen time, led by influencers such as Seyi The Nifty Mum, and toddler feeding tips presented by food blogger Sisi Yemmie.

Beyond the talks, the convention offered fun and engaging activities like baby-olympics and another lively karaoke session. Vendors showcased a wide range of baby products, from innovative parenting tools to clothing and accessories, providing parents with opportunities to explore and shop.

Reflecting on the event, Dr. Renner emphasised its role in creating a support network for parents. “Parenting doesn’t come with a manual, but platforms like this provide valuable guidance and a sense of community,” he said.

The event’s success was made possible by the support of children-friendly brands like Caring Africa and Caring Blocks, Cussons Baby Nigeria, Avon HMO, Danovita Kids, Renzo’s Vitamins for Kids, August Secret, Gidi Cakes, Kunbis Music Company, The Nimichen Brand, Radiance Cookware, The Baby Lounge, Fab Mum, Mum Confessions, Wives and Mothers, Young Nigerian Mom, Lagos Mums, and That Good Media.

With expert-led discussions, engaging activities, and a focus on networking, The Baby Convention 2024 has solidified its place as a must-attend event for parents and caregivers in Nigeria. It continues to raise the bar for parenting by offering tools, insights, and a supportive community for navigating the challenges of raising children in today’s world.
